Acceptable Use Policy

What may and may not be done with our network, the categories of use we refuse outright, how we handle reports, and the consequences of a breach.

Version 3.0 Operator Squid Ventures LLC Jurisdiction State of Nevada, United States

This policy applies to everyone who uses our network, including your own customers and end users. You are responsible for their compliance as well as your own.

1. Guiding principle

Use our network lawfully, and do not use it in a way that harms others, damages the network, or exposes us to legal liability. Where this policy does not address a specific situation, that principle applies.

We are a wholesale provider, which means much of the traffic on our network originates with your customers rather than with you. We expect you to operate your own acceptable use terms that are at least as strict as this policy, to maintain a working abuse contact, and to act on reports we forward.

2. Prohibited activity

You must not use the services, or permit them to be used, to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation in any jurisdiction connected to the traffic.
  • Gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or network.
  • Distribute malware, ransomware, or any code designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to systems.
  • Operate command-and-control infrastructure for botnets or other compromised systems.
  • Conduct phishing, credential harvesting, or any activity designed to deceive people into disclosing information.
  • Carry out denial of service attacks, traffic amplification, or reflection attacks.
  • Conduct unauthorized port scanning, vulnerability scanning, or penetration testing against third parties.
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of others, or facilitate infringement at scale.
  • Intercept or monitor traffic or data you are not authorized to access.
  • Misrepresent your identity, or forge headers or addresses to disguise the origin of traffic.
  • Engage in fraud, including payment fraud, advertising fraud, and click fraud.

3. Categories we do not serve

We refuse these categories outright, regardless of their legal status in any particular jurisdiction. Discovering that a service is being used for one of them is grounds for immediate termination:

  • Child sexual abuse material, in any form and for any purpose.
  • Content or services that incite violence or terrorism, or that provide material support to a proscribed organization.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery.
  • Trade in stolen credentials, payment card data, or personal information.
  • Sale of controlled substances, weapons, or other goods whose sale is restricted, other than by a licensed entity operating lawfully.
  • Services whose primary purpose is to facilitate the categories above.

4. Network conduct

  • Do not exceed the port capacity or commitment stated in your service order in a way that degrades service for others.
  • Do not transmit traffic with forged source addresses. We apply source address validation at the edge and may filter traffic that fails it.
  • Do not operate open resolvers, open relays, open proxies, or other services that can be abused for amplification, without controls that prevent abuse.
  • Do not connect equipment to a facility network in a way that interferes with the network or with other customers, including spanning-tree or broadcast conditions.
  • Notify us before conducting load testing that will generate significant traffic on our network.

5. Routing and addressing

  • Announce only address space you own or are expressly authorized to announce, and provide a letter of authorization on request.
  • Maintain accurate routing registry objects and RPKI ROAs for space you announce through us.
  • Do not announce address space in a way intended to hijack or disrupt another network's traffic.
  • Do not point a default route at us unless your service order provides for it.
  • Keep prefix announcements within the limits agreed for your session, and tell us before a material increase.
  • Use blackhole communities only for prefixes within your own address space.

6. Email and messaging

  • Do not send unsolicited bulk email, and do not provide services to those who do.
  • Maintain valid SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for domains you send from.
  • Honor unsubscribe requests promptly and maintain suppression lists.
  • Do not harvest addresses, and do not purchase lists for use on our network.
  • Maintain a working abuse contact reachable at all times for any mail-sending service.

7. Content

We do not monitor or review the content carried across our network as a matter of course, and we do not act as an arbiter of lawful speech. We will act on the categories in clause 3, on valid legal process, and on well-founded reports of activity that breaches this policy.

Copyright complaints are handled through the process on our abuse and DMCA page.

8. Resource use

  • Colocated equipment must stay within the power envelope in your service order. Sustained draw above it may require a commercial adjustment or physical remediation.
  • Equipment must be installed safely, cabled tidily, and must not obstruct containment, airflow, or access to shared infrastructure.
  • Do not interfere with any equipment that is not yours, or with facility infrastructure.
  • Follow the facility operator's access and safety rules, which we will provide.

9. Reports and investigation

Reports of activity breaching this policy should be sent to [email protected] with timestamps in UTC, the addresses involved, and enough log detail to identify the traffic. We acknowledge reports and investigate them.

Where the activity originates with one of your customers, we forward the report to your abuse contact and expect you to act. We will escalate to you directly if reports go unanswered.

We may inspect traffic to the minimum extent necessary to investigate a report, to protect the network, or where required by law. We do not otherwise inspect customer traffic.

10. Consequences of breach

Depending on the seriousness of the breach and your response, we may:

  • Ask you to remedy the issue within a stated period.
  • Filter or blackhole specific traffic, addresses, or prefixes.
  • Suspend the affected service in whole or in part.
  • Terminate the service order under clause 10 of the Master Service Agreement.
  • Disclose information to law enforcement where we are required or lawfully permitted to do so.

We will give notice and an opportunity to remedy wherever practical. We will act without prior notice where the activity falls within clause 3, where there is an immediate threat to the network or to a third party, or where law requires it.

Suspension or termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund of charges for the affected period, and does not relieve you of committed charges. Our refund and cancellation policy sets out the position.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified to your administrative contacts at least thirty days before they take effect, and the version number and date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use the services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of it.
